Self-Love
In the Garden of Her Skin is a self-portrait collection of not someone perfect, but someone present. These collaged floral compositions are bright and confident in their own humbling way.
Dried-up paint skins from old palettes are peeled and repurposed in these floral abstracts. These “skins” represent past experiences and perhaps personalities that have been suppressed.
Like looking into the mirror, I hope you see yourself as someone beautiful, someone loved, and someone worthy through these paintings.
About the Process
I had a lot of fun creating these floral series. Peeling the paint skins off of leftover palettes felt like I was shedding layers of my own skin. Layering the skins to create a beautiful and imperfect flower is like transforming our own past experiences. We are all made up of our past, present, and future selves….we are all imperfectly beautiful and becoming.
