Bio-electric Butterflies began as a simple surrender to water. Playing with watercolor on paper while watching the colors flow from a single drop of paint is electrifying, sensational, and introspective. The studies eventually morphed into butterfly/moth-like wings.
In this collection, the familiar silhouette of the butterfly is reimagined as a vessel for cellular energy. Every cell possesses a holistic energy that dictates–much like the butterfly effect–how profoundly or subtly we respond to external stimuli. Emotions like joy, grief, and fear do not simply pass through us; they echo internally. A joyful experience amplifies joy at a cellular level, just as profound grief intensifies the grief already held within the body. However, this vital life force–our prana–can be intentionally nurtured. By slowing down through meditation, breathwork, yoga, nature walks, and a dedicated attention to the small things, we expand our prana.
Bioelectric Butterflies invites viewers to look inward, transforming the canvas into a map of the hidden, pulsing electricity that connects all living things.
